![]() Firefox+Scrapbook X was an excellent alternative until Firefox decided to destroy all their addons in favour for useless chrome addons. Why? Because google search sucks and web pages that you may need later get deleted more frequently than you realise.Īlas Evernote only has a 7/10 web clipper and a 1/10 search. I want verbatim search and what-you-see-is-what-we-clip web clipping. ![]() It’s too structured, pandering, impersonal and too easy for bad software to manipulate us into installing it. Top results from google will never give you the whole picture. It won't turn me away from Evernote just because it doesn't do "everything" - it's still a pretty awesome note-taking app which has seen me through the years. I guess if I really want to write markdown, i'll use a MD editor, and write code in a code editor app. But I don't expect they need to go down the route of Notion, Monday (or Nimbus) etc., trying to be a solution for any conceivable task or profession. Personally I prefer to keep Evernote simple even if I do look forward to when they introduce new features. Whether it has now been "overtaken" by other apps that try to do absolutely everything and are supposedly "infinitely customisable" is another matter. ![]() ![]() Originally my goal was mainly to manage and take notes across multiple devices, make lists, store documents etc.) and access them on the go. Having said that, it isn't a deal-breaker for me because I have had Evernote (premium) for several years and it does what I need it to do very well. In Evernote you can, of course, paste or write code and take notes in markdown, but there is no preview (to check formatting) and no colours are supported when pasting or clipping code snippets, for example. Nimbus has one thing going for it over Evernote which is "syntax highlighting and markdown support".
